This summer I had the priveledge of going on my first cruise. Honestly it was one of the most amazing vacations I have ever gone on. A special thanks goes out to Royal Caribbean for making it such a memoerable trip. I cant lie, I was a little nervous considering it was my first cruise. A lot of things came across my mind, like will I feel the boat moving, will I get sea sick, am i going to have a fun time? From the moment I stepped on the boat until the moment I stepped off I had nothing but fun. Considering I was on the largest boat in the world, The Oasis of the Seas, I felt absolutely nothing. Never felt the boar rock once. This was a huge relief ! As the days went on while I was on the cruise there were many things that I thought about like expenses and costs of things. I was thinking what could I do differently on my next cruise to save money becasue I will deffinetely be going on another one. I have compiled a list of a few things that will save you some money, becaue for a family a cruise can be a little expensive.
1. Shop around! Check every option for booking a cruise ie: Costo Vacation Package, Expedia, Traveolcity. Some of these travel sites have great deals. We booked through Costco and got a cheap deal plus $250 to spend on board, 1 specialty dinner in a special resturnant free ( which costs extra on the cruise) , a beach mat for the beach at Royal Caribbeans private island ( which costs extra) and a few other things.
2. If needed buy the alcohol package rather than buyin drinks one by one. Although its $350 up front, it really saves money in the end. If there is one person that doesnt drink as much, share the package so its worth it.
3. One common missconception is that leaving from a port in New York is cheaper since you dont have to pay for a flight to Florida. Considering the Oasis of the Seas is too big to leave from New York, in order to experience this boat you much leave from Fort Lauderdale. After much research I have come to the conclusion that leaving from New York is actually more expensive because it costs more in fuel and energy to have the boat travel from NY to the Caribbean or whereever its going, if you are in FL its closer and requires less fuel. ( HELPFUL HINT: look into Jet Blue getaways, realy cheap!)
4. Try and plan you excurions ahead of time, it things easier and you may even be able to save a few bucks when booking in advance.
5. Become a Crown and Anchor member for Royal Caribbean if you really enjoyed it. Its free and it give you may perks and discounts.
Talking about this has made me very excited. Maybe ill go look into another cruise right now !
